Welcome to Jensayla Bengals! We are a small in home breeder of Bengal kittens. We are located in the heart of the Bluegrass in Central Kentucky. Our number one goal is to produce Bengal kittens that are healthy. In addition to health, we strive to produce kittens that are well socialized as well as stunningly beautiful. Our Bengal kittens are raised inside our home amongst our family’s day to day activities. We have two little girls, ages 7 and 9 that do a fantastic job socializing each litter. Consequently, this ensures our Bengal kittens are well socialized and ready to be welcomed into the homes and loving arms of our clients. We also selectively place kittens into breeder/show homes at our discretion.
Because we don’t take the health of our cats lightly, all of our breeding cats are screened for HCM every 12-18 months. This deadly heart disease is especially relevant in the Bengal breed. This screening allows us to know that we are doing everything within our power to ensure we are breeding bengal cats with healthy hearts. Furthermore, our bengal kittens are genetically tested for PK Deficiency and Bengal PRA. Because of this testing we can guarantee that we will never produce a bengal kitten that will be positive for either of these diseases.
Our bengal kittens will go to their new homes with all age appropriate vaccinations. They will have been dewormed according to our parasite control plan. They also will be vet checked and tested for FIV/FeLV prior to leaving our home for yours. As part of our contract, our bengal kittens are also guaranteed against congenital defects for a period of two years from the date of birth of the kitten. Finally, our bengal kittens are microchipped with a paid lifetime registration. Each bengal kitten also is sent home with a toy.
Additionally, our cattery and all of our Bengal cats and kittens are registered with CFA and most with TICA as well. We show our bengals as often as we can. In the 2018-2019 show season we showed one of our kittens almost every weekend of her kitten class ages of 4-8 months, Jensayla’s Breaker-Of-Hearts (Hera). She ended the show season with enough points to earn the prestigious title of Regional Winner for our region, Great Lakes. She was the best Bengal kitten in our region and the 2nd best Bengal kitten Nationally. We couldn’t have been more proud of Hera and our Bengal breeding program.
Also, we are members of the Bengal Breed Committee with CFA. This allows us to have a voice on any proposed changes to the Bengal standard. These revisions and changes are presented to the CFA board annually for consideration. Our involvement with CFA allows us to keep the best interests’ of the breed front and center. Health & Socialization
At Jensayla Bengals our goal to raise healthy and well socialized kittens. Our kittens are all born and raised inside our home. Bengal kittens are handled by members of our household daily to aid in their recognition of human touch. When they start becoming mobile Mom and kittens are moved to our designated Bengal kitten room where the kittens will be able to safely gain their independence under the watchful eye of their mother. We have two little girls, ages 5 and 6, that assist in socializing all of our Bengal babies.
Health is always at the top of our priorities. All of our breeding cats are genetically tested through UC Davis Veterinary Laboratory for the PK Deficiency status as well as their Bengal PRA status. These tests gives us the information that we need to never produce a kitten that can develop PK Deficiency or that could go blind from PRA (Progressive Retinal Atrophy) We also screen the hearts of all our breeding cats every 12-18 months beginning at one year of age for HCM (Hypertrophic Cardiomyopathy). This screen is done using ultrasound equipment by a Board Certified Veterinary Cardiologist. We also have a very structured parasite control plan to ensure we have done everything possible to deliver kittens to their new families free from parasites.
